The unveiling ceremony of the Artificial Intelligence building of China Media Group was held in Beijing on February 28th. Shen Haixiong, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President of China Media Group (hereinafter referred to as the Group), and Zhao Chenxin, Vice Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission delivered speeches and unveiled the plaque for the building. Xu Qiang, President of the SIC was invited to the ceremony.
Shen Haixiong said that according to General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an important driving force for the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, China has made historic achievements and transformations in science and technology. Frontier technologies such as AI have experienced explosive growth, and reshaped the global landscape of scientific and technological competition.
As the first media building named after AI in the nation, the inauguration of the building is a powerful measure of the Group to implement General Secretary Xi's important instructions on the development of technology and the work of the Group, and serve the overall work situation of the Party and the country.
The Group will create a benchmark for AI innovation and practice to promote more local breakthroughs. It will provide a "Chinese benchmark" and "Chinese model" for the upgrading of global media industry, making AI a powerful tool for high-quality development, and provide strong impetus for Chinese path to modernization.
Zhao Chenxin said that since General Secretary Xi creatively put forward the important statement of developing new quality productive forces, China's innovative impetus, especially innovative technologies represented by AI has been developing fast and flourishing, and leading a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. The Group actively aligns with major national strategies by fully leveraging the advantages of resources. It fully demonstrates the responsibility and commitment of a national-level media platform by combining data resource development and AI application, and by integrating serving the country's major strategies and promoting the systemic change of the media.
The SIC signed a cooperation agreement with the Group to jointly explore new models of media data sharing, provide more abundant data resources for the development of AI in the media industry, and promote the wide application of AI technology in the field of media.
