Xu Qiang, President of the SIC met with Jassim Alshirawi, Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum(IEF) recently. Wu Wenhua, Vice President of the SIC presided the meeting. Xu Qiang welcomed Mr. Alshirawi and pointed out that the exchange provides an important opportunity to deepen cooperation between the two sides. He suggested that the two sides establish a cooperation mechanism to enhance personnel exchanges, and conduct joint research on data transparency, scheduling of computing power resource and the green and low-carbon energy transition. The SIC can provide various forms of information technology support and consulting services.
Alshirawi expressed his gratitude for the meeting, and mentioned that the IEF, which has 70 member countries, aims to promote dialogue between energy-producing and energy-consuming countries, thus increase transparency in the oil and gas markets and ensure the stable operation of the international energy market. The IEF hopes to carry out cooperation and exchanges with the SIC on computing power industry and the green and low-carbon energy transition.
Focusing on topics such as developing computing power economy and enhancing data transparency, Chenqiang, Deputy Director-General of Big Data Development Department of SIC introduced the experience of building an integrated national system of big data center and the green and efficient computing power infrastructure. Xu Chunxue, Deputy Director-General of Public Technical Service Department of SIC introduced the construction and operation of the National E-Government Network, as well as progress in information technology projects consultation and digital government construction.
During the meeting, President Xu Qiang and Secretary-General Alshirawi signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the State Information Center of the People's Republic of China and the International Energy Forum on behalf of respective sides. The MoU is intended to promote dialogue between the two sides on low-carbon energy transition, and to strengthen cooperation between China and member countries of the IEF in digitalization and AI systems, thereby promoting the global energy demand transition and sustainable growth.
Simon Stoddart, Global Communications Director of the IEF and Xiao Xiuli, Director-General of Comprehensive Management Department of SIC attended the signing ceremony. Relevant staff from Comprehensive Management Department and Big Data Development Department of SIC participated in the exchange activities.
